5G mmWave patch antenna array with proximity sensing function for detecting user's hand grip on mobile terminals

We propose a new concept millimetre-wave patch antenna that integrates the functions of an and capacitive proximity sensor to detect hand grip state for 5G mobile terminals compensate effect. The proposed has structure proximity-coupled fed as by using capacitance change occurs when user's approaches patch. By observing at centre operating in TM01 mode, it is possible simultaneously perform without mutual interference. implemented 1 × 4 array. experimental results show stable gain 8.3 10.1 dBi 26.5 29.5 GHz can operate with 200 fF according hand.
